Mission Statement

The Mission of West Coast School of Law is to provide the most economic law degree possible via a correspondence program using distance learning. Students have access to all major books and learning aids use by accredited schools.

Some students due to financial limitations, family responsibilities, geographic location, time constraints, etc. cannot attend a regular type law school. As an alternative to traditional fixed facility law schools, West Coast School of Law provides a basic legal education, at an affordable cost. The expectation of the learning outcome is for student to take and pass the Bar Exam of California. For students who, only want to earn a Juris Doctorate Degree and not take the Bar Exam, the outcome would be a better understanding of the law. Some students enrolled in the School of Law have no present intention of ever practicing law. The book “The Lawyer’s Career Change Handbook” by Hindi Greenberg has many suggestions of what a person can do in and out of the legal profession, with a Juris Doctorate Degree.

The degrees offered are a Bachelor of Science in Law, awarded after completion of the second year and a Juris Doctorate, Awarded after the fourth year. Also an Executive / Business Juris Doctorate degree will be offered. This degree will be for those who do not wish to take the Bar Exam but want and need a legal education. This degree has historically been free of California Bar Rules on timing. A student could study less that the 864 hours and could end their studies prior the 48th week. On the other hand a student could study past the 52nd week.

The diplomas are issued free, after the successful completion of the second and fourth year.

Also individuals who do not intend to practice law should have the opportunity to study the rules of society. Many who find themselves in a legal predicament do not know what happened. As a sub goal to this program is this knowledge, which is valid accomplishment itself. Let me repeat, It is not the goal of WCSL to graduate only lawyers, but to expand the knowledge base of legal matters in society.

All that WCSL offers is a chance to become a lawyer. Yes, it is a difficult accomplishment requiring much dedication and perseverance. But also this program is a learning experience where what is included in the lesson assignments might prove useful in actual life situations. The data which society calmly states ignorance of is no excuse is lacking in certain sectors.

My goal is to have the most economic JD Program. I believe that even a dish washer could afford to do my program. I use the dishwasher as an example of an individual who might be lacking weight of the purse. That was my first job and also Mr. George Orwell was occupied in the same profession in his interesting book, Down and Out in Paris and London, written in 1933.
